Jenny Burton Textiles
As a member of a family whose roots reach deep into artistic soil, Jenny has moved in directions that reflect her strong connection to Nelson. Her studio is on the garden terrace level of Villa 10, the grand old colonial family home above the sea, where she has lived for over 30 years. She and Graham have refurbished it into three apartments, one of which they live in, and established a well-treed garden.
Jenny has captured the essence of these beautiful surroundings in her hand-painted textiles, used to furnish the apartments. For the past 10 years she has been painting her unique designs on to cushions, curtains, upholsteries, and bed linen.
"But now that our holiday apartments are so busy I don't have to paint cushions for a living. I want to explore all my other creative impulses that have been on hold for years" Jenny says. Guests are always welcome to visit the studio when she is working there.
